Exciting New Developments: the Pain Clinic project

The Pain Clinic project has commenced!

The aim of creating new outpatient facilities, known informally as The Pain Clinic, at Teddington Memorial Hospital at Teddington Health and Social Care Centre (THSCC) is to bring specialist care closer to home, reducing the need for patients to travel to larger hospitals.

Find out the latest

If you would like to know more, you are invited to attend The Friends Annual General Meeting on Monday, 21 October, at 7.30 pm, at The Peter and Paul Centre Teddington.

Angela Clarke, the Estate Development and Optimisation Director responsible for the new clinic project at Teddington Memorial Hospital, will speak at the AGM. The Friends is supporting the project with at least £150,000 for patient experience elements. (There is still time to Donate or Raise Funds for this project.)

You are cordially invited to stay for the drinks reception after the meeting to chat with Angela and the trustees.

Modern Clinic

Significant improvements began at Teddington Health and Social Care Centre (THSCC), located behind the Teddington Hospital site, in August 2024.

These enhancements are part of a broader initiative to provide more accessible healthcare services to our local community.

The primary focus of these upgrades is to renovate existing spaces and transform them into a modern clinic (the Pain Clinic project) that meets the community’s growing healthcare needs.

Outpatient Facilities

Once completed, the new outpatient facilities will be a crucial resource for local residents seeking specialised medical care. This project is part of a broader strategy to emphasise preventative healthcare and early intervention, ensuring people receive timely treatment.

Renovation Plan

The renovation plan includes improvements to the new clinic space, the garden area, and staff rest facilities.

These enhancements will create a more relaxing environment, allowing healthcare professionals to recharge and be at their best when caring for patients. Investing in the well-being of the staff helps ensure that the overall quality of care continues to improve.

Refurbishment

The refurbishment will primarily involve interior updates to the existing clinic space and landscaping to refresh the ward’s garden area. During the renovation, temporary ground-level structures will be set up in the THSCC car park to facilitate the construction team. This may result in minor disruptions to parking and noise, but efforts will be made to minimise the inconvenience.

The Friends has provided noise-cancelling headphones for patients in the Pamela Bryant Ward, directly adjacent to the construction site.

Construction

Construction activities occur between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on weekdays, and site deliveries will be carefully managed to reduce congestion around the hospital.

While the building works may cause some short-term disruptions, the long-term benefits for the local community are significant. The upgraded facilities at THSCC will allow more residents to receive the care they need closer to home.

The Friends support

Stay tuned for further updates and progress reports as we work towards completing these exciting improvements at Teddington Health and Social Care Centre at Teddington Memorial Hospital, which the Friends is supporting with a donation of over £150,000 for patient experience elements.
