What We’re Looking For

  • Commitment to the charity’s goals and values.
  • Ability to contribute time and expertise to board meetings and activities.
  • Experience in healthcare, finance, fundraising, marketing, or governance is desirable but not essential.

Your Role

  • Attend and actively participate in monthly board meetings. (Held every third Monday of the month.)
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight.
  • Support fundraising initiatives and community outreach.
  • Ensure the charity operates within its charitable objectives and complies with legal requirements.

Recruitment: Company Secretary Trustee

By becoming a Company Secretary Trustee, you will help manage the organisation and give your time and services for the good of the cause.

This will enable all project donations and legacies to be applied to improve the hospital’s facilities.


Trustee Recruitment Process

If you would like to know more or are interested in applying, please contact us for an informal chat with a trustee or send a CV outlining how you meet the requirements to info@friends-tmh.co.uk.

If your CV is shortlisted, you will be invited to attend an interview with a panel of Trustees.

The successful applicant must provide details of referees and other employment checks, including proof of identity and completing a Criminal Records Bureau disclosure application with satisfactory clearance. In addition, applicants may be required to provide actual certificates of qualifications for specific roles.


Trustees’ main duties

1. Ensure the League of Friends is carrying out its purposes for the public benefit

Ensure that the League carries out the purposes for which it is set up and no other purpose.

2. Comply with the League of Friends’ governing document and the law

Ensure the League of Friends complies with its governing document and charity law requirements.

3. Act in the League of Friends’s best interests

Do what the Trustees (and no one else) decide to enable the League to best to carry out its purpose.

4. Manage the League of Friends’ resources responsibly

Act responsibly, reasonably and honestly. This is sometimes called the duty of prudence. Prudence is about exercising sound judgment.

5. Act with reasonable care and skill

Use reasonable care and skill, use Trustees’ skills and experience and take appropriate advice when necessary.

6. Ensure the League of Friends is accountable

Comply with statutory accounting and reporting requirements.
