The League has an excellent track record of fundraising and completing numerous major projects of improvement at the hospital which have greatly benefitted its patients, staff and the local community.
As part of its fundraising activities over the last 20 years, the League has mounted large appeals to raise funds for a massive programme of improvements to the Hospital and has raised approximately £8 million which has been used to update and provide new buildings and to purchase new equipment.

2020: 5619 meals for NHS staff over nine weeks during the Covid crisis
The League funded and coordinated 5619 good-quality meals for the NHS staff at Teddington Memorial Hospital and Whitton Corner Health Clinic over nine weeks, at a crucial time, when the nursing teams were working so hard to care for patients.
We were also pleased to help, at a time of difficulty and uncertainty, our local businesses in Teddington, Ruba Restaurant, Sidra Restaurant and The Abercorn Arms, who all provided the food.
And as part of this project, The League also delivered VE Day afternoon teas to the staff at Teddington Memorial Hospital, provided by Café Verde in Teddington.

2014 – 2018: Enhancement to GP Out-of-Hours Service
The League launched a pioneering new project in partnership with all GP practices in the Borough of Richmond, to enhance their Out of Hours Service. This was the first partnership of its kind in the country, to improve out-of-hours GP services for all registered patients and helped more patients get the care they needed at home and avoided visiting overcrowded Accident and Emergency Departments.
The Out of Hours Service operated when GP practices were closed i.e. evenings, weekends and bank holidays. With the support of The League of Friends, the enhanced service provided:
- The certainty of being able to speak to and if appropriate, be seen by a dedicated doctor based at Teddington Memorial Hospital.
- A fully equipped car, which enabled the doctor to make home visits.
Through its fundraising efforts and many generous donations, the League of Friends raised £2,001,294 and committed support to the enhanced service for three years, with an extension of the service running to the beginning of 2018.
