This year’s Full of Life Fair at Twickenham RFU Stadium, which took place on Friday 4 October 2019, between 10am and 4pm, was great fun and well attended by the local community, with over 1000 residents attending.
This annual Fair is Richmond upon Thames’ flagship event for residents aged over 55. It is a great opportunity to get information and advice from businesses, charities and community groups from across the borough and to meet new people.
The events main aims are to celebrate the huge contribution that older residents and carers make to our society and economy. To ensure senior residents do not feel excluded or isolated from the rest of society. To create a positive view of later life and tackle outdated stereotypes. To provide senior residents with the ability to access high quality care and support services locally and to raise awareness of the opportunities and entitlements for older people.
The League were able to speak to hundreds of residents about our work and the current projects which we are funding at the hospital, all of which are made possible by the continued support from our local community. We also explained to attendees about becoming a member and informed them of our available volunteer roles and look forward to some new members and volunteers joining.
This was a wonderful day and we received so many positive comments about our much loved hospital and about how caring the staff are. Many stressed how grateful they were for having such a community facility available within the borough, when so many other smaller community hospitals have sadly been closed.
We look forward to attending this well organised event again next year and meeting more of our local residents.
Thank you to everyone for your support and donations on the day, we truly value our community and how caring you are.
