Last week, we hosted a Volunteer Afternoon Tea event and farewell for our outgoing Chairman, Simon Douglas Lane, to celebrate the remarkable contribution made by our dedicated team of shop volunteers, who play such an important role in supporting our local hospital, and to thank Simon for his many years of service as Trustee and Chairman.

Volunteer Afternoon Tea
The Volunteer Afternoon Tea is an opportunity to recognise the commitment and generosity of our shop volunteers.
Our shop volunteers contribute countless hours of their time, helping to raise vital funds that support patients, staff and services at Teddington Memorial Hospital.
Their warmth, dedication and willingness to serve are at the heart of everything the League of Friends seeks to achieve.
Volunteer Long Service Awards
A highlight of the event was the presentation of long service awards to four volunteers in recognition of their outstanding commitment and many years of dedicated service.
These awards acknowledged not only the time they have given but also the lasting difference they have made to the hospital and the wider community.
Their dedication serves as an inspiration to all who volunteer and demonstrates the extraordinary impact that individuals can have.

Alvin R: 16 years
Margaret L: 13 years
Kevin C: 12 years
Anne T: 10 years
Retirement of Simon Douglas Lane
The event also provided an opportunity to express thanks and appreciation to the retiring Chairman of the League of Friends, Simon Douglas Lane. After seven years of dedicated leadership as Chairman, Simon is stepping down from the role, leaving behind a legacy of steadfast support for the organisation.
For more than seventy years, Simon has been a passionate supporter and advocate for the hospital, helping to ensure that it continues to serve the local community with excellence and care.
Those attending the Volunteer Afternoon Tea warmly applauded Simon’s contribution, thanking him for his years of support and leadership.
Community Spirit
The Volunteer Afternoon Tea once again demonstrated the strength of community spirit that lies at the heart of the League of Friends.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to every volunteer, supporter and friend who contributes to the continuing success of the organisation and to the ongoing support of Teddington Memorial Hospital.
