Recycle Your Empty Ink Cartridges and Raise Money for the League

Recycle your empty ink cartridges: a simple way to help the League of Friends of Teddington Memorial Hospital, while helping the environment too.

We’re pleased to have joined Recycle4Charity, giving our supporters another easy way to raise money for the League of Friends of Teddington Memorial Hospital.

The idea is simple: instead of putting your empty printer ink cartridges in the bin, you can recycle eligible cartridges through Recycle4Charity and raise money for the League at the same time. It costs you nothing to take part, and every eligible cartridge you recycle can generate a donation to support our work.

How does it work?

It only takes a few simple steps.

1. Choose the League of Friends as your charity

When you register with Recycle4Charity, select the League of Friends of Teddington Memorial Hospital as the organisation you want to support.

2. Save your empty ink cartridges

Once you have used an eligible printer ink cartridge, keep it rather than throwing it away.

Recycle4Charity provides free postage labels, so you can send your cartridges to them without having to pay the postage.

You can also arrange a collection box if you are collecting larger numbers of cartridges.

3. Send them off: and raise money

Post your cartridges using the free postage service.

Recycle4Charity then processes the cartridges and passes the donation value to your chosen charity.

The value varies depending on the cartridge model, with eligible cartridges currently generating donations of up to £2 each.

Before sending your cartridges, it’s worth checking the Recycle4Charity wanted list because not every printer cartridge is eligible.

The programme currently accepts selected inkjet cartridges; toner and laser cartridges are not accepted through the standard programme.

Recycle4Charity also asks supporters to send cartridges with a combined donation value of at least £2.

Why recycling your cartridges matters

Your empty cartridge may seem like a small thing but recycling them helps keep useful materials in circulation rather than simply throwing them away.

Recycle4Charity says its programme has so far helped raise more than £2.2 million for charities and good causes and kept more than 410,000kg of waste out of landfill.

The organisation says used cartridges may either be remanufactured for reuse or recycled into raw materials, depending on their condition.

That means your everyday printing can have a positive impact twice: helping reduce waste while also generating funds for a local charity.

Every cartridge can make a difference

There is no additional cost to supporters, no fundraising target to meet and no need to ask friends and family for donations. Simply recycle something you already use.

For households, this is an easy way to support the League as part of your normal routine.

Businesses, community groups, schools and other organisations can also get involved and collect eligible cartridges, potentially creating a regular source of fundraising. Recycle4Charity provides collection boxes and marketing resources to help organisations promote the scheme.

The money raised through our Recycle4Charity scheme will help the League of Friends of Teddington Memorial Hospital continue supporting patients, staff and services at Teddington Memorial Hospital and contributing to projects that improve the experience of healthcare for our local community.

Ready to get started?

Next time your printer cartridge runs out, don’t throw it away, recycle it for the League instead.

It’s free, easy and better for the environment, while helping to raise funds for Teddington Memorial Hospital.

Choose the League of Friends of Teddington Memorial Hospital through Recycle4Charity and turn your empty ink cartridges into support for your local hospital.
