The Hospital Chapel For All Faiths was funded by the League at a cost of £195,000 and was completed in 1998. The Service of Blessing was conducted by the Bishop of Kensington, The Rt. Revd. Michael Colclough, and was attended by many religious leaders and some 200 supporters. The latter consisted of members of the community, donors, and representatives of groups and organisations. A plaque was unveiled by Trust Chairman, Maggi Lyne, to mark the official opening.
A year later in 1999, the League decided to commemorate the year 2000 and launched an appeal for specific donations to provide a stained glass window in the Hospital Chapel. The design depicts many local scenes and embraces a theme of caring.
Each Sunday a short service of hymns and prayer is held at 4 p.m. by clergy of different denominations on a rota basis organised by the League’s chairman, Pamela Bryant MBE. The chapel is used by all faiths and local churches and clergy give their time voluntarily and are supported by the volunteer chaplaincy team. The Hospital Chaplain is Revd Karen Wellman.
